January 16, 2007, Palm Coast Florida
The Commercial Airline Pilot Training Program (CAPT, LLC) was recently awarded funding for financial aid services from SLM Financial, a Sallie Mae company. The loan program will give CAPT students funding for the full cost of the CAPT program and includes partial assistance for living expenses. “SLM approval of our school is great news for CAPT.” Said CAPT, LLC, Vice President, Martin Schaaf, “ Students will have the ability to secure financial aid in pursuit of their dream of becoming an airline first officer.” In addition, students will be allowed to defer repayment of the loan for up to 14 months giving them additional flexibility to pursue their aviation careers.
In December, the program hosted interview teams from Atlantic Southeast Airlines (ASA) and Pinnacle Airlines at CAPT’s Flagler County Airport facility for two days of onsite interviews with program graduates. Both organizations gave the graduates high marks for their preparation and as a result 19 CAPT alumni were hired and given firm class dates at the completion of the airline’s respective visits.
“December has been a fantastic month for CAPT graduates on the hiring front,” said CAPT Program Director Gary Morrison, “this brings the percentage of all CAPT graduates hired (by the airlines) to 93%. The high demand for CAPT alumni continues as several other airlines are now seeking them out for employment. In addition, our hiring airline affiliates are beginning to pre-hire CAPT students prior to graduation making the future for incoming CAPT students very optimistic.”
The CAPT Program provides a full immersion approach training individuals with little or no previous aviation experience to the highest standards of the commercial airline industry. CAPT uses the latest technology to deliver airline specific training, including in-flight video cameras, self-reflected journals, line operation safety audits, and curriculum centered on the fundamentals of Crew Resource Management. Upon completion of the program, graduates are fully prepared to meet the demands of the commercial aviation world.
