Who May Apply?

The CAPT Program is open to applicants who are at least 20.5 years old (or will be 20.5 when you start your training), who possess a high school diploma or GED, and who is either a US citizen or a permanent resident alien. International students may apply to the CAPT Program provided they apply for and receive Transportation Security Administration (TSA) approval. Application Process

STEP 1

Complete the Application, or,

If you are an international (Non U.S.) student,
please use the International Application.


STEP 2

Download and complete the Background Release and Authorization form (PDF). Sign the form and fax it to 1-386-586-6578.

FTS International performs an airline-standard, 10-year background check that covers employment, schooling, civil and criminal history, driving records, residential records, and more.


STEP 3

Download the Transcript Request form (PDF) and mail it to the school where you received your highest level degree.

IMPORTANT: Your application cannot be processed until the Background Release and Transcript Request forms have been received.


STEP 4

Upon completion of the airline background check, applicants are invited to attend a screening session at the Flagler flight training facility north of Daytona Beach, FL. These day-and-a-half sessions are offered Monday through Friday. The Office of Admissions will assist with lodging and travel arrangements.

Students who enroll and complete the first certification are eligiable for a $500 travel reimbursement applied to their flight account. (We will not give a CASH reimbursement.)

The screening process includes:

  • Assessment of general intelligence, personality, aptitude, and cognitive reasoning
  • A simulator evaluation
  • A personal interview

Scores from these tests are tabulated, and applicants whose combined scores meet or exceed the standards set by the airlines for the CAPT Program are accepted for admission.

  • Screening is a day-and-a-half session.
  • Acceptance into the program is valid for six months.
  • Training normally commences once per month in approximately the third week.
  • The application fee is $180 for background and screening costs.
