CAPT History

CAPT Facilities
The CAPT Program, or Commercial Airline Pilot Training Program, was initially developed at the world-leading Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, before being acquired by Flight Training Services International in 2006.

The same academic minds that created the degree programs for the world's best pilots, astronauts and engineers, also developed the ultimate accelerated program for the aspiring commercial pilot. This positioned CAPT as the leading name for accelerated pilot training in the aviation industry and one of the first choices of the airlines for recruit selection. Airlines know the CAPT faculty, and that they are seasoned professionals, from the industry, who assure that every CAPT job candidate is well prepared to excel in commercial aviation. CAPT graduates also enjoy an elevated status in the field, having met the challenge to become respected members of an elite family and an honored lineage.

The Commercial Airline Pilot Training Program (CAPT, LLC) officially opened its doors in August 2003 under the auspicies of Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University. The program was designed to meet the demands of college educated professionals who were seeking a career transition into the aviation industry as commercial airline pilots. From the outset of the development of the program in 2001, it was envisioned that CAPT would align itself with airline standard training by incorporating such industry practices as Line Operations Safety Audits (LOSA), Line Oriented Flight Training (LOFT), Threat and Error Management (TEM), and Crew Resource Management (CRM).

After three years of exceeding all expectations, CAPT was sold in August 2006 to Flight Training Services International (FTSI). The leadership at FTSI saw CAPT as a provider of flight training on a global scale based on the realistic and unique training curriculum that has produced an astonishing 93% placement rate with U.S. regional airlines.
