Airlines throughout the world have adopted and invested heavily into advanced flight training simulators and devices and the CAPT Program has aligned its flight training to mirror this approach. CAPT's FAA-Certified Level 3 Advanced Aircraft Training Device (AATD) plays an integral role during instrument flight training and continues both glass cockpit and performance continuity with the Cirrus SR-20 G2. Our Flight Training Device has 100% avionics and systems functionality, and provides both force feedback and sophisticated flight deck sounds.
The devices are not only procedures trainers, but also meet the requirements for Multi-Crew Concept (MCC) flight training and time in the Level 6 device (picture not available) is loggable toward certification.
Flight Training Devices are FAA-approved flight simulators that do not feature actual movement. Instead, they simulate movement through high-fidelity visual systems. The advantage of using an FTD to learn a technique is that a cadet can learn in an environment where the instructor can stop the simulation, explain the lesson or the technique, then allow the cadet to perform the tasks. This method of learning has proven more beneficial than teaching a complicated technique in the actual airplane.
Full Flight Simulators are categorized by the FAA in levels A through D. Level D is the highest level of aircraft realism and visual fidelity. The quality of Level D simulation is so realistic, most airline pilots conduct all their jet training in a simulator, and the first time they fly the actual jetliners with a full load of passengers. | |
Boeing MD-90 EFD (Electronic Flight Deck) simulatorThe Boeing MD-90 EFD simulator used at CAPT is a Level D simulator and one of only three in the world that offers a full glass-cockpit in this DC-9 aircraft series. It has a six-axis system for a full range of motion and features a touch-screen Instructor Operating Station (IOS). Approvals
